Classical Pilates to build better posture, increase well-being and enhance fitness performance

Start Here...

Are you curious about Pilates? Perhaps you've heard about how Pilates can reduce back pain, help prevent injuries or lengthen your muscles for more flexibility. Or maybe you've seen videos of complicated exercises that look like circus tricks and wondered if you could learn to do them (you can). No matter what brought you here, you've come to the right place.

If you're active, energetic and free from injury or chronic pain, you can sign up for a group class. Online classes are a great way to hold yourself accountable to a new exercise routine while connecting to others in a fun and supportive environment. All are welcome in Pilates with Riki classes.

If you're on a budget, Pilates for Progress is your best bet. This donation-based class starts at $5 and benefits a different non-profit organization each month. You can learn more about this class here.

If you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, the Pilates for Active Adults classes will be safest for you.

If you suffer from chronic pain or are more sedentary, beginning with a private session will ensure the best results. You will learn the fundamentals of Pilates and discover how to modify any exercises that are not specifically suited to you. Contact me to discuss schedule and pricing.

Online group classes are a great way to get yourself moving in the comfort of your own home. You'll stretch, tone and balance your whole body, strengthen your innermost muscles and focus on your breath. Joining the group call each week holds you accountable while providing a connection with others that lifts your spirits. You'll leave each class feeling energized, mentally focused and with a sense of accomplishment. See what others have to say about how they've benefitted from regular Pilates classes.

I have found that some positions and movements that I couldn't do when I started out, I am able to do now. I am encouraged because I feel much stronger and my back rarely bothers me any longer, which is a miracle!

For those new to Pilates, this is your starting point. By investing in two or three private sessions, you'll give yourself a foundation for the more challenging exercises, and you'll move with more grace and control through your everyday activities. Private sessions are also a great way for Pilates enthusiasts to work on modifications or to tackle exercises that you find particularly challenging.  I offer a limited number of 25 or 50 minute sessions each week. Contact me directly to schedule yours.

Feel Good About Your Mid-Week Workout

In this pay-what-you-can, donation-based class, you get the benefit of exercising, while others benefit from your targeted financial contribution. Each month we will raise money for a specific non-profit organization. Proceeds will be announced here at the end of the month. Donations can be made on a sliding scale from $5 - 100.

October's contributions will go to Democracy NC. For more than 25 years they have fought voter suppression, advocated for fair voting maps and protected democracy in the state of North Carolina. A democracy only works if every citizen is involved. So make sure you're registered to vote, then click the Sign Up & Donate button below to contribute to this crucial campaign - and get a great workout.

Thanks to everyone who helped raise $175 in September for World Central Kitchen!

Riki is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT), has completed the Intermediate Training Program from The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO, as well as the TheraPilates for Osteoporosis Course with Sherri Betz, an internationally recognized expert on building better bones through exercise. She taught mat and equipment classes at InsideOut Body Therapies in Durham, NC for more than three years before launching Pilates with Riki.

But how did it all start? In a quest to end chronic back pain, Riki began private Pilates sessions while living in Scotland in 2014. After working together for two years, her instructor encouraged her to look into teacher training. She now incorporates exercise into her daily life and fully believes Joseph Pilates' assertion that "movement heals".

As an instructor, she strives to see potential in every client, coaching them to reach for their goals, whether they are looking for more flexibility, deeper breath, increased muscle tone or better balance and coordination. Underlying these beliefs is a sense of fun that winds its way into each and every session.

Recommendations for equipment, props, books and videos - all intended to deepen your home practice and boost your well-being.
