Get Your Heart Pumping with this Bone-Safe Warm-Up

Since the pandemic started, I've noticed a paradox in my everyday life. I'm definitely doing more Pilates than ever before, but I'm also sitting a lot more than usual, probably because I try to limit how much I go out and about these days. Because of this, I've incorporated a standing warm-up in every virtual Pilates class I teach. Lasting between 5 and 10 minutes, these warm-ups include stretches for the major muscle groups and dynamic movement to get the heart pumping. For my Healthy Bones classes - intended for those with osteopenia or osteoporosis - I avoid forward flexion and rotation of the spine, as shown in the video below. Give it a try - any day!
